The 25th Anniversary Sportscaster Camps of America will offer each camper the unique opportunity to try everything that goes into Sports Broadcasting. With a camp focus on play-by-play broadcasting, campers attend classroom sessions on baseball, football, basketball and hockey play-by-play. These sessions are taught by professionals, who are working fulltime in the industry. After the classroom sessions, campers try their hand at each sport. This is the heart of the camp, where each camper gets to "call it like they see it."
Each camper will be at courtside calling all the play-by-play of the Mater Dei High School Super Star Prep Basketball Tournament, located in the 3,200 seat arena on the campus of Mater Dei High School. Campers will broadcast games, featuring some of the top prep teams in California, including the nation's top prep team the Mater Dei Monarchs, 2008 CIF Champions Dominguez, 2008 State Champion Santa Marguerita, along with some of the other top prep basketball stars in the State of California. Campers will also travel to beautiful Angels Stadium to broadcast all the action of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim vs. the NewYork Yankees game. Plus campers will get to work on their football play-by-play skills broadcasting a USC vs. UCLA football game. During all games camp counselors will listen to every camper's play-by-play and give instant feedback, helping each camper improve immediately. This "instant critiquing" is what makes Sportscasters Camps of America the industry leader.
Campers also have the opportunity to work in front of the camera and anchor two professionally produced sportscasts in the Sportscaster Camps of America television studio, complete with ChromaKey background, TelePrompter, anchor desk, professionally crafted highlight package and teleprompter script.
But the adventure doesn't stop there. Campers also attend classes on interviewing, how to assemble a demo tape, and how to get that all important first job or how to start your own broadcasting business. Lectures will be given on Sports Talk Show hosting and Pre and Post-Game show hosting.
Time is also set aside for campers to talk one on one with camp counselors at the camp Open Forums, and campers are encouraged to bring tapes from any previous high school or college work for counselors to critique, at these unique open sessions.
Over the five days, campers get to tape and keep their play-by-play of three top Super Star prep basketball games, one Major League baseball game, one college football game, one NHL hockey game, and campers will also get a personalize DVD of their two studio sportscasts.
